Why is there still a debate between science and religion?

Religion is tricky. It's part of the government in some countries and it has gone unquestions for quite a while. In my opinion, the religious simply can't accept the fact that their beliefs are being reasonably challenged. That's why I like Atheists, most of them are pretty mellow. I'm a Symbolic Satanist, which is similar. I listen and nod politely to those who state their opinions and beliefs logically. I frown upon those who say my embracing of human nature is ridiculous. I do not stand for those who attempt to shove their religions down my throat. Simple as that. The religious are used to being top dog and nowadays more skeptics raise their voice. Satanism was pretty controversial in the 1960's, but now people just frown upon it... At least we've changed our ways a little.
