Is the wealth,power and influence of the illuminati over exaggerated?

I believe that essentially there is a pyramid system of wealth etc,where those at the very top trickle the wealth and power to those underneath them,but have the illuminati really got their fingers in every pie,to be able to influence and dictate so much what goes on in the world,also are they satanically influenced ?
